Ep 107: Steven Spielberg vs Netflix

It’s been reported that Steven Spielberg plans to address the Academy Board of Governors in an effort to change the rules on what may qualify for an Oscar nomination. Specifically, he wants to exclude anything that doesn’t have at least a four week run in theaters. This would exclude recent nominees like the Netflix movie Roma and other movies that originate on streaming platforms. So with that being said, we have a lot of arguing to do. We each have opposing views on the subject, and while we do argue, we also engage in a more civil, intellectual debate. In other words, Nick doesn’t yell at anybody in this episode.
